PORT ANGELES — Beginning today at 9:30 a.m., the state Shorelines Hearings Board will listen to arguments for and against building the Oak Street hotel and conference center.
Opponents of the project have challenged the shoreline permit needed to build the $17.5 million, four-story, 156-room facility at the corner of Oak and Front streets in the downtown waterfront area.
The six-member state panel is scheduled to meet through Wednesday to hear from attorneys and witnesses on both sides.
The hearings are open to the public and are being held in the City Council chambers in City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
The board is expected to make a decision by June. Any further appeals of the project’s permits could be heard in court.
