PORT ANGELES – Maintenance, custodial and other crews are preparing for a summer of moves throughout the Port Angeles School District.
Roosevelt Middle School will become an elementary school.
Elementary schools, which now cut off at the fifth grade, will begin to include sixth grade classes next fall.
Teachers will pack up their rooms and they and other staff will be moved out of Fairview Elementary School, which will close on the district’s last day of school on June 21.
All of the changes are adding up to a busy summer for all involved.
At the same time, a committee is looking into what to do about the school district’s empty buildings – the Fairview site as well as the building that once house Monroe Elementary School, which was closed in 2004.
Moving has already begun as library staff at Roosevelt Middle School began to take books to the Stevens campus this week.
