PORT ANGELES — After two hours of executive session deliberation Friday, the School Board announced Gary Cohn would be the new superintendent.
Cohn, 46, of Kirkland said he accepted the job, but official contract negotiations begin this week between Cohn and the School Board.
“I am so excited that I can hardly stand still,” Cohn said Friday. “My wife, Sue, and I are thrilled and pleased to be asked to join the Port Angeles community.”
The School Board selected Cohn from a short list of two finalists that included Bill Myhr, 46. Myhr is the superintendent of the Elma School District in Grays Harbor County.
Both Myhr and Cohn visited Port Angeles last week for interviews and community meetings. Cohn visited Wednesday.
