PORT ANGELES — School Board members were told Monday night that the Port Angeles School District’s projected million-dollar budget deficit will be worse.
“The $1 million estimate we had is out the window,” said Jim Jones, district executive director of business and operations.
“As of this date it could be $345,760 (more) or almost $870,000 — or worse — depending on what they decide.”
“They” are the state Senate and House of Representatives, which are tugging with a red-ink state budget that is being debated in the Capitol.
Jones and Port Angeles Superintendent Gary Cohn said district officials should know more about the depth of state cuts Thursday, after legislative committees finish their process.
