PORT ANGELES — The School Board is being asked to consider closing an elementary school because of a projected $1 million budget districtwide deficit — even though another is being rebuilt for $4.2 million.
The recommendations of a Port Angeles School District Budget Review Committee, given to the board on Monday night, include closing Choice High School and an undesignated elementary school.
Those recommendations may become formal courses of action by March 25.
They’re part of a sweeping list of 37 budget-balancing recommendations for the district’s 2002-2003 fiscal year.
