San Juan Airlines plans to begin passenger flights from Port Angeles to Seattle’s Boeing Field by Dec. 13 — and hopes to fill the void that will be created by the pull-out of Horizon Air.
“We have every intention of going in there and starting service,” San Juan Airlines President Clyde Carlson said Thursday.
In a telephone interview with the PDN from the commuter airline’s headquarters in Renton, Carlson said he will meet with Port of Port Angeles officials at 2 p.m. Tuesday to firm up plans.
A real estate agent in Friday Harbor, now served by the airline, predicted that Port Angeles “will be so pleased with the service they will soon forget the days of Horizon.”
But even with a commitment from San Juan Airlines, the Port will continue to look at whether other air carriers also want to provide service to Port Angeles, Port Executive Director Clyde Boddy said.
Boddy would not identify what other airlines have been contacted.
