PORT ANGELES — Mike Knowles knows it’s going to take a little luck.
The fifth-year Port Angeles girls basketball coach has his team back in the WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington 4A Girls Basketball Championship tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
Entering last year’s tournament, Port Angeles was riding a 12-game state losing streak.
Now the Roughriders have a three-game winning streak.
Port Angeles lost its opening game last season before winning its final three to claim fifth place.
“We’re hoping that experience will carry over,” Knowles said.
This year’s Roughriders might be better.
“A lot of these kids have been there,” Knowles said. “It takes a little bit of luck as well as having good ball players.”
Port Angeles (21-3) faces Redmond (19-6) at 2 p.m. in today’s first round in the Tacoma Dome.
