Port Angeles resident charged with burglary, assault on father in Island County

PORT ANGELES — A 25-year-old Port Angeles man is being held in the Island County jail for allegedly choking his father and threatening to kill him, the Whidbey News-Times reported Wednesday.

Jeremy Lee Thompson has been charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree assault in Island County Superior Court, the newspaper reported.

He was being held Wednesday on $100,000 bail.

The alleged victim told an Island County sheriff’s deputy that his son had been at his house Aug. 15 and went “nuts,” according to court documents as reported by the News-Times.

Thompson’s father told the deputy that his son later punched him in the mouth, knocked him to the floor and put him in a tight chokehold, according to the arrest report.

Thompson allegedly threatened to kill his father during the struggle inside the man’s house, the Island County deputy said.

The alleged victim was able to escape. He was treated at a local hospital.

The deputy originally arrested Thompson for investigation of attempted murder, the News-Times reported.
