Port Angeles police investigate wrecks

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles police investigated two wrecks in Port Angeles on Monday, both of which involved drivers who lacked insurance, police said.

The incidents included a non-injury wreck involving a school bus and another wreck that sent a mother and her children to Olympic Medical Center with chest pains.

At about 3 p.m. Monday officers responded to the 700 block of South Peabody Street, where a vehicle struck the rear of a school bus, police said on Facebook.

Kristen Christie of Port Angeles, 24, was cited for following too closely and for lacking insurance, said Jason Viada, Deputy Police Chief, adding that drugs and alcohol were not a factor.

There were children on the bus, but no one was injured.

Bus inspected

The bus, driven by Ray Hansen of Port Angeles, 60, was inspected by the State Patrol before being placed back into service.

At about 5 p.m., officers were called to a wreck at the intersection of Georgiana and Frances streets, where a driver, identified as George Burke of Port Angeles, 65, failed to yield and struck another vehicle, causing that vehicle to hit a parked car and a home.

The vehicle that was struck had two small children in car seats.

Lynzi Swanson, 23, and her two children were transported to Olympic Medical Center complaining of chest pains.

The nursing supervisor said Tuesday that the hospital has no recent record of Swanson at the hospital.

Burke was cited for no insurance and not having a valid drivers license, police said.
