PORT ANGELES — Residents in a large part of the city are being advised to boil their drinking water until further notice after a temporary water treatment system failed early Tuesday.
The boil advisory includes everywhere in the city except areas east of Cedar Street and north of Ninth Street; the downtown area; and Ediz Hook.
The advisory means any water used for brushing teeth, dishwashing, preparing food and making ice as well as for drinking should be either bottled water or tap water brought to a rolling boil for three to five minutes.
“It’s just a consideration; it is not a mandatory boil order,” city Public Works Director Glenn Cutler said.
