HOODSPORT — A Port Angeles man was injured when he was hit by a pickup truck on the Skokomish River bridge late Saturday.
Jacob G. Caliendo, 28, of Port Angeles, was struck when he tried to cross the Skokomish River bridge on foot at about 6:16 p.m. Saturday, according to a report by State Trooper Timothy Salverson.
Caliendo was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to the report, but the hospital had no record Sunday of
his arrival.
The State Patrol reported Ruben H. Gonzales, 48, of Shelton was driving southbound in a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck with three passengers on U.S. Highway 101 approaching the Skokomish River bridge when Caliendo attempted to cross the roadway in front of him.
Gonzales was unable to stop and struck Caliendo.
No one in the pickup truck was injured, and there was no damage to the vehicle, Salverson reported.
There are no charges pending, he said.
