PORT ANGELES — A man was shot in his leg Thursday morning, and Clallam County sheriff’s deputies are trying to figure out how it happened.
Deputies were called after the man, a Port Angeles-area resident in his mid-30s, arrived at Olympic Medical Center around 10:15 a.m. with a friend.
Deputy Mel Kempf said the man, whose name he would not release, told investigators that another man shot him at a Baker Street location.
The victim’s friend had left the hospital, and deputies were trying to find him to verify the victim’s story, Kempf said.
“We really need to talk to that other person, see if he can shed some light,” said Kempf.
He said the man was shot in the middle or lower part of his thigh, possibly with “hardball”-type ammunition, and the shot exited through the calf.
