Port Angeles man injured in log truck wreck near Brinnon

BRINNON — A Port Angeles man is in good condition at Harborview Medical Center after a log truck rolled over on U.S. Highway 101 near Brinnon.

Dwane Sukert, 30, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the green Kenworth truck he was driving, which was hauling a black log trailer, left the roadway and rolled off the right side of Highway 101 just after noon Monday.

Sukert was in serious but stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries after the wreck, according to Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman.

His condition was upgraded to satisfactory on Tuesday, according to Harborview staff.

The wreck shut down Highway 101 in both directions for about an hour before alternating traffic was put in place. Traffic impacts lasted from 12:14 p.m. to 4:31 p.m. Monday afternoon.

The State Patrol said Sukert was heading south on Highway 101 and left the road after a curve near Bee Mill Road 4 miles north of Brinnon near Wawa Point.

After the truck left the road, it rolled once, the State Patrol said.

The truck was towed from the scene.

No other vehicles or people were involved in the wreck.

The State Patrol is investigating.
