Port Angeles: Kayak Symposium winds up today

PORT ANGELES — Like ducks take to water, hundreds of kayakers are, well, taking to the water this weekend on Port Angeles Harbor.

The fourth annual Kayak Symposium centers on Hollywood Beach on the Port Angeles waterfront with paddling demonstrations, clinics and gear sales.

An equipment swap is also scheduled at City Pier.

The symposium, which continues today, is a free event, but a $5 cash donation or $5 worth of non-perishable food is requested as a benefit for the Port Angeles Food Bank.

Clinics focus on kayaking safety and techniques. Numerous slide shows are also scheduled at the nearby Red Lion Hotel. On-land clinics do not require pre-registration, but registration for on-water clinics are recommended.
