PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles School District has announced that Hamilton Elementary School has been selected for a 2019 National Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Distinguished School Award.
The award recognizes the school’s progress in closing the achievement gap between student groups based on a three-year average scores on the Smarter Balanced Assessment for the school years ending in 2017, 2018, and 2019, as well as other factors, including mathematics proficiency score above the state average.
Gary Pringle, the principal at Hamilton stated, “It is a true testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire Hamilton Hawk family.”
Pringle, along with custodian Mike Daniels, 4th-grade teacher Trent Pomeroy, kindergarten teacher Danyelle Brannan, Title I reading teacher Stephanie Latzel and assistant superintendent Chuck Lisk, will be representing the school in February at the 2020 National ESEA Conference in Atlanta.
