PORT ANGELES — They are projects that could produce a direct economic impact of $19 million to Clallam County and up to 120 jobs over 36 months, many paying a skilled-labor wage of $56,000 a year.
A state Department of Transportation graving yard facility proposed on the Port of Port Angeles industrial waterfront would build components for a new Hood Canal Bridge in 2006, and boost the local economy.
The “Hood Canal Bridge Economic & Fiscal Impact Assessment” report released by the city Tuesday offers a clearer picture of how proposed graving yard and Hood Canal Bridge rebuilding projects could hit home.
