PORT ANGELES — After five years of countless meetings — and controversy over parking and condemnation proceedings — the proposed Port Angeles International Gateway Transportation Center is finally moving forward.
The project’s design review committee unanimously voted Wednesday afternoon to pursue final design and conceptual drawings so the construction contract can be put out to bid later this year.
That is, if an additional $2.1 million can be found to build it.
The project also currently lacks all of the necessary property, which has become the subject of condemnation lawsuits filed by Clallam Transit System.
