PORT ANGELES — Fog barely thinner than clam chowder grounded Kenmore Air Express flights out of William R. Fairchild International Airport Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday.
The murk isn’t likely to lift until midday today at the earliest.
“We haven’t had a flight out of here since 3 o’clock Saturday,” Sandy Briggs, the airline’s Port Angeles station manager, said Sunday.
“I thought it was going to clear up this afternoon, but it hasn’t yet.”
The thick mist spoiled what might have been a fog-free November at the airport, Briggs said. Kenmore on Sunday was calling customers booked on its first three flights today to advise them of possible cancellations.
The flights leave Port Angeles at 6, 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. A dense fog advisory was forecast until noon today by the National Weather Service.
Travelers’ options include taking Olympic Bus Lines (360-417-0700) to Seattle or driving.
An air-stagnation alert remains in effect through 4 p.m. Tuesday for the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound, until 10 a.m. Wednesday along the Columbia River basin, and until 4 a.m. Friday in Eastern Washington.
Cloudy weather is forecast through Thanksgiving on the North Olympic Peninsula.
