Port Angeles: Decision on moving Choice School is off table

PORT ANGELES — A recommendation to move Choice Community School to the Port Angeles High School campus is off the table for discussion indefinitely.

The Port Angeles School Board voted at its meeting Monday night 4-0 in favor of “indefinitely” postponing consideration of moving the alternative high school.

The vote came late in the evening, at about 10:30 p.m., with Board member Cindy Kelly abstaining from the vote.

“It came as a shock,” Kelly said Tuesday.

She said she didn’t feel comfortable voting on something without all the facts.

The recommendation to move Choice, 924 W. Ninth St., to the Port Angeles High School campus, 304 E. Park Ave., was included as the second phase in all six school closure options now under consideration.
