PORT ANGELES — When it comes to Wal-Mart, the septic system problem is often right under your nose.
County environmental health officials report Wal-Mart’s septic system is failing, and has been for much of the 199,000-square-foot store’s seven years in business.
The system must be pumped out at least once a week to avoid a health risk.
And those driving along U.S. Highway 101 near Morse Creek sometimes get a whiff of Wal-Mart’s waste when the septic disposal truck is at work.
The problem has Port Angeles, Clallam County and Wal-Mart officials wondering what to do.
