The Port Angeles resident who was director of the Washington State Traffic Commission under two governors has died.
Clifford E. Aden, 87, director under Govs. Dan Evans and Dixy Lee Ray between 1970 and 1977, died of natural causes after a short illness Tuesday evening, his family said Thursday.
The Walla Walla native began a 40-year career with the state as a member of the State Patrol in Port Angeles in 1937. He was eventually transferred to Olympia and rose to the rank of major before retiring and becoming traffic commission director in 1970.
A full death notice appears in the Friday/Saturday Peninsula Daily News.
