PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles City Council on Tuesday approved the final design of an esplanade to be built later this year.
The esplanade will be located west of the ferry terminal. Construction is expected to be finished this summer.
The waterfront walkway is the main part of the first phase of the city’s waterfront redevelopment project. The phase is estimated to cost $3.26 million.
It includes the new walkway over the shoreline, various lighting and landscape improvements, and a narrower Railroad Avenue west of the ferry terminal to accommodate more pedestrian traffic.
The city plans to have the entire phase finished this fall.
