Youngsters will have more room to play at a new building for the Mount Angeles Boys & Girls Club in Port Angeles.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has signed a lease allowing the club to use a 4,400-square-foot four-plex that will more than triple the youth center’s current size.
Children have been turned away from the club’s current location — a 1,300-square-foot duplex in the Mount Angeles View public housing development on South Francis Street — because of lack of space, Olympic Peninsula Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Suzanne Little said Thursday.
In the new unit — adjacent to the present facility — “we’ll have bigger rooms, and we’ll be able to have more kids per staff person,” Little said.
