PORT ANGELES — Lower Elwha Klallam tribal and state officials hope an archeological survey of the graving yard can begin later this week.
The tribe and state Department of Transportation officials continued to negotiate details of the survey plan late Wednesday and hope to approve it today.
“We are very close to finalizing the agreement,” said Lower Elwha Klallam Tribal Chairman Dennis R. “Sully” Sullivan on Wednesday evening.
The archeological survey is intended to find out what lies below the surface of the 22.4-acre graving yard.
