Federal investigators are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or people who planted a threatening letter in an east Port Angeles Safeway store last month.
A letter demanding money and threatening to contaminate food products across Western Washington was found Sept. 18 in the Safeway, 2909 E. U.S. Highway 101. Testing of a baby food jar seized from a store aisle determined the product would not have been harmful if it had been consumed.
No other tampered products have been found.
The Food and Drug Administration-Office of Criminal Investigations and the FBI are offering the reward. Anyone with information should call the FBI at 206-622-0460, or the FDA-OCI at 206-262-2245.
