PORT ANGELES — Five-year-old Lanna is now the center of attention for family and friends of her mother, Rosa Hammer.
Ms. Hammer, killed Aug. 9 in a confrontation with a state trooper during a traffic stop near Bremerton, was buried at graveside services under gray skies Thursday.
Her father, Ed Hammer, hopes to raise Lanna.
“Ed told me that Lanna tells him that she doesn’t want to see him cry,” said Jenny James, a friend of Lanna’s grandfather.
“She says it makes her eyes hurt.”
Many of the 150 people at Ms. Hammer’s funeral at Mount Angeles Memorial Park Cemetery wept openly.
