Pole down; detour set up in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Traffic is being detoured down Monroe Street after a dump truck hit an internet power pole late this afternoon.

A dump truck making a right turn onto Monroe Street clipped the pole at about 4:30 p.m. CenturyLink is expected to replace the pole Friday morning, authorities said.

In the meantime, Jefferson Street, a road to Point Hudson, will be closed for one block, with traffic detoured down Monroe Street to Water Street and then to Jackson Street and back to Jefferson Street .

Internet and phone service were not affected; neither was electrical power.

No one was hurt.

Port Townsend police are investigating.
