Winds swept across the North Olympic Peninsula, but Clallam and Jefferson counties were spared mayhem reported elsewhere in Northwest Washington on Tuesday.
On the Peninsula, where the region’s strongest winds were clocked in Port Townsend at 45 mph with gusts to 54 mph, fire agencies were kept busy with numerous downed trees and power lines.
A few small brush fires caused by the arcing power lines were extinguished quickly.
Parts of Sequim lost power Tuesday evening, though no other significant power outages were reported on the Peninsula.
