More than 36 canoes manned by pullers representing American Indian tribes from throughout the Pacific Northwest will begin their annual two-week Paddle Journey later this month.
Thousands of tribal members will participate in the journey this year to Taholah, making stops throughout Puget Sound and along the North Olympic Peninsula.
Area tribal members — including representatives of the Port Gamble S’Klallam, Jamestown S’Klallam, Lower Elwha Klallam, Quileute, Makah, Hoh and Quinault –will participate in the paddle and host tribal pullers and their families.
