Why do people visit Clallam and Jefferson counties?

The Olympic & Kitsap Peninsulas 2002 Visitor Profile surveyed visitors in Clallam County to find out.

Clallam County

Here are the results of the Clallam County survey:

* 31 percent of day and 42 percent of overnight visitors came for outdoor recreation.

* 23 percent of day and 25 percent of overnight visitors came for historical and cultural attractions.

* 26 percent of day and 21 percent of overnight visitors came for friends or family.

* 11 percent of day and 6 percent of overnight visitors came for business.

* 7 percent of day and 3 percent of overnight visitors came for festivals and events.

* 3 percent of day and overnight visitors came to visit gardens and farms.

Jefferson County

In Jefferson County, the survey found:

* 26 percent of day and 29 percent of overnight visitors came for outdoor recreation.

* 26 percent of day and 23 percent of overnight visitors came to visit historical and cultural attractions.

* 20 percent of day and 29 percent of overnight visitors came for friends and family.

* 15 percent of day and 11 percent of overnight visitors came for festivals and events.

* 12 percent of day and 7 percent of overnight visitors came for business.

* 1 percent of day and 2 percent of overnight visitors came to visit gardens and farms.
