Administrators of the three North Olympic Peninsula hospitals are monitoring events surrounding the company that provides their insurance, including malpractice coverage.
State officials last week seized control of Washington Casualty Co. after it collapsed into insolvency.
The action became automatic under state law after Washington Casualty filed an annual statement the week before showing it to be $4 million in the red.
Washington Casualty insures Olympic Medical Center and Forks Community Hospital in Clallam County and Jefferson General Hospital in Jefferson County — among more than 70 hospitals in Washington and Idaho.
