A United States-flagged container ship that suffered power failure off Point No Point was ordered to Port Angeles for a Coast Guard inspection Monday.
Because of the size of the 780-foot CSX Enterprise and its proximity to shore, the U.S. Coast Guard immediately dispatched two tug boats to the ship after it reported a main propulsion system failure at 3:40 a.m. Monday near Admiralty Inlet.
The ship dropped anchor and its engineer inspected the problem while an assist tug remained alongside, the Coast Guard reported.
An incorrectly closed valve caused the power failure, according to the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard Marine Safety office inspected the ship in Port Angeles.
It was cleared and left Port Angeles Harbor on Monday afternoon.
