North Olympic Peninsula state Rep. Jim Buck of Joyce was one of several Republicans handed minority leadership roles Monday for the 2002 legislative session.
Buck will be chairman of the House Republican caucus.
Rep. Clyde Ballard, House co-speaker when Republicans shared membership with Democrats between 1998 and 2001, was elected minority leader.
Other Republican lawmakers named to leadership posts include: Rep. Dave Mastin, R-Walla Walla, deputy minority leader; Rep. Beverly Woods, R-Poulsbo, whip; Rep. Richard DeBoldt, R-Chehalis, floor leader; Rep. Bruce Chandler, R-Granger, assistant floor leader; and Rep. Lynn Schindler, R-Spokane, assistant floor leader.
The 2002 legislative session is scheduled to begin Jan. 14.
