Peninsula pooch goes Hollywood

One North Olympic Peninsula resident got to hobnob with the Hollywood set — even carrying a studio security badge — during the filming of “The Hunted” near Port Angeles.

He got carte blanche to rub elbows with the crew on the tightly closed set of the major motion picture, which wrapped up filming its climactic scenes near Elwha Dam on Friday.

Actually, it was Popeye who got a lot of rubbing — behind the ears.

Popeye is a 3-year-old Jack Russell terrier.

His owners — Kent and Pam Arney, who own Arney’s Dam RV Park at 47 Lower Dam Road — said their dog was “adopted” by the movie crew during the shooting, which lasted nearly a month.

The crew even issued the dog an official Paramount Pictures security badge, allowing him onto the closed movie set.

“They would come and ask if he could ride along with them down to the set and into town when they picked up supplies,” Arney said.

“He loves to ride and loves excitement, so we always let Popeye go along.”
