A crew locating and removing derelict crab pots and fishnet in Clallam County’s major waterways suspended pulling gear Sunday and today because of low tides.
Joe Schmitt, the Clallam County Marine Resources Committee chairman who helped bring in the derelict gear program, said the time would be used to survey gear using sonar and identifying cleanup targets.
Removal activity should resume in Port Angeles Harbor on Tuesday, he said.
So far, more than 1,000 pounds of abandoned gear has been removed from Dungeness and Sequim bays.
