The unemployment rate improved in Clallam and Jefferson counties during September
Figures released Tuesday by the state Employment Security Department show Clallam County unemployment declined from 6.2 percent in August to 5.9 percent in September. The unemployment rate is well below the county’s 2001 high of 9.3 percent in February.
In Jefferson County, the unemployment rate decreased from 5.1 percent in August to 5.0 percent in September. That county’s 2001 high of 7 percent was recorded in February.
Statewide the unemployment rate fell from 5.6 percent in August to 5.5 percent in September.
