Snow levels on the North Olympic Peninsula remain well above average, and more of the white stuff is expected by tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
“We are going to get some snow at lower elevation levels in the Olympics and could get some snow in (populated areas)” starting tonight and lasting through Saturday, forecaster Mike McFarland said.
Snow, which largely avoided the Port Townsend area when it blanketed much of the Peninsula last week, should coat eastern Jefferson County this weekend, the weather service said.
Up to three inches of snow are expected in the foothills of the Olympics, with a dusting possible in coastal communities tonight and Saturday, McFarland said.
Temperatures throughout the region will hover in the low- to mid-30s into early next week.
But West End communities will likely be spared any snowfall because temperatures should remain above freezing. Forecasts show rain is on the way.
