Clallam County can expect to lose $455,000 next year in state money that covers revenue losses caused by Initiative 695, Commissioner Mike Chapman said this week.
Meanwhile, Jefferson County can expect to lose $340,000 in 2002, Commissioner Glen Huntingford said.
Clallam and Jefferson are among counties and cities across the state that expect to lose $57.8 million because legislators are expected to discontinue so-called “backfill”‘ money that the state gave cities and counties in 2001 to make up for losses from Initiative 695.
Legislators are going along with that part of Gov. Gary Locke’s 2003 budget proposal, Chapman said.
