SEQUIM — Arco, the Port Angeles Police Department’s police dog, was found unharmed at a Happy Valley residence Saturday morning after disappearing Friday night.
“We are very pleased,” Police Sgt. Glen Roggenbuck said.
The 10-year-old German shepherd K-9 officer was separated Friday from his handler, Cpl. Kevin Miller, near the area of Sporseen and Happy Valley roads, Roggenbuck said.
Clallam County Search and Rescue began searching the area Saturday morning while Port Angeles police officers and volunteers went door to door, asking residents if they had seen the dog, he said.
Arco was found in the yard of a house within a mile of its residence, Roggenbuck said. It was the first time the dog had gone missing, he added.
Arco is a tracking and drug-detecting dog, not only helping find illegal drugs but sniffing out criminals.
