PORT ANGELES — Parking lots and a stretch of roadway will be closed in Port Angeles on Sunday for work to be done on them.
Three downtown parking lots will be closed day and night beginning at midnight Sunday morning until 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, for resurfacing and striping.
On Sunday, the eastbound lane of Marine Drive from Valley Street to the intersection of Marine Drive and Second Street will be closed for asphalt repairs.
The parking lots to be closed for resurfacing and striping are on the south side of Front Street east of Oak Street, the parking lot on the north side of First Street midblock between Laurel and Lincoln Streets, and the parking lot at the northeast corner of Lincoln and Second streets.
Notification signs will be placed in each lot after 2:30 p.m. today.
For the Marine Drive lane closure, a detour for eastbound traffic will be in place using Second Street to Valley Street where traffic will be able to turn left and proceed north on Valley Street back to First Street.
The detour will be in place beginning at 5 a.m. until about 4 p.m.
The work is being performed Sunday to lessen the impact to heavy truck traffic, city officials said.
The Marine Drive Chevron will be accessible from Valley Street.
Work is weather-dependent and might be rescheduled due to heavy wind or rain events.
