PORT ANGELES -Clallam County residents starting today won’t have to stockpile their household hazardous waste for a once-a-year collection event.
They will be able to take those items to the new moderate risk waste facility at the regional transfer station at the end of West 18th Street in Port Angeles.
The operation will be open two days a week – Wednesdays and Saturdays – from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
A ribbon-cutting is set for 2 p.m. today.
Household hazardous waste includes leftover gasoline and propane, solvents, pesticides, poisons, household cleaners, lawn and garden supplies, corrosives, oxidizers and oil-based paints.
But it does not include latex paints, business waste, fluorescent tubes, electronic waste or pharmaceutical waste.
