PORT ANGELES — Frances G. Charles, chairwoman of the Lower Elwha Klallam tribe, will be the featured speaker at this week’s Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting on Monday.
She is expected to discuss the tribe’s points of view regarding the future of the now-canceled Hood Canal Bridge graving yard, site of the ancient Klallam village of Tse-whit-zen.
Charles will also outline plans for the 2005 Tribal Journey, in which canoes from at least 32 tribes in Washington state and British Columbia will converge in Port Angeles and the Lower Elwha reservation Aug. 1-6.
Monday’s chamber luncheon begins at noon in the second-floor meeting room of the Port Angeles CrabHouse Restaurant, 221 N. Lincoln St.
Luncheon tickets are $10, or $2.50 for beverage-only, and can be purchased from the meeting room cashier.
The meeting is open to the public.
