Opioid treatment programs topic of informational sessions

PORT ANGELES — Salish Behavioral Health Organization will host an informational session on planned opioid treatment programs in Port Angeles on Friday.

The group also plans a session in Bremerton.

The Clallam County session will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Peninsula College’s Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

The Kitsap County session will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Norm Dicks Government Center, 345 Sixth St., Bremerton.

The treatment programs will be conducted by BayMark Health Services, based in Lewisville, Texas, operating under a contract with Salish Behavioral Health Organization.

The programs will use a variety of interventions to treat individuals with opioid addiction issues and assist them in recovery efforts, according to a news release.

A panel of subject matter experts will answer questions from community members about opioid treatment programs.

Medical and mental health care providers are encouraged to attend this event.

Salish is a county-operated organization responsible for the oversight of behavioral health services including mental health and substance-use disorders.

The organization operates in accordance with a state contract to contract with community-based agencies throughout the region to provide treatment, behavioral health and crisis services for Kitsap, Clallam and Jefferson County Medicaid recipients, according to the release.

Attendees who may require special accommodations are to contact Alexandra Hardy at 360-337-4604, 800-843-4793 or ahardy@co.kitsap.wa.us. One week advance notice is required for interpreter services.
