Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau announces its board for 2014

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau has announced its nine-member board of directors for 2014.

Board members live and do business in the unincorporated areas of Clallam County, outside of the city limits of Forks, Sequim and Port Angeles.

Returning board members are board President Linda Keen, representing 10 rooms or fewer, from Quillayute River Resort; Robert J. Flood, representing recreational vehicle parks and campgrounds, View Vista Park; Morgan Colonel, representing at-large positions, Olympic Raft and Kayak; Treasurer Margaret Owens, Joyce Depot Museum; Mary Wong, Nash’s Farm Store; and Ali Baker, representing at-large lodging, Chito Beach Resort.

Clallam County Commissioner Mike Doherty serves as an ex-officio member of the board.

New members are Vice President Todd Gubler, representing 11 rooms or more, Lake Crescent Lodge; Scott Nagel, representing at-large positions, Olympic Peninsula Celebrations; and Secretary Lydia Oakes, Sea Cliff Gardens Bed and Breakfast.

“It is a pleasure to welcome the new members to this dynamic group of tourism industry leaders,” Executive Director Diane Schostak said.

“Their experience and perspectives will be helpful as we embrace the coming year,” she said, adding, “We are a world-class destination drawing visitors from Puget Sound and all reaches of the globe.”

Monthly meetings

The board meets monthly in the Port Angeles area to advise staff on policies, programs and promotions.

The visitor bureau is engaged in many aspects of marketing and has many local and regional partners, Schostak said.

It also provides administrative support for the Olympic Peninsula Tourism Commission, a 13-partner group composed of the chambers of commerce and tourism marketing entities from the Mason County line to Quinault via the northern U.S. Highway 101 route.
