Olympic National Park road to Rialto Beach to close Thursday for repairs

Mora Road, from the ranger station to the beach, will be closed for roughly a week for repair work.

OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — The stretch of Mora Road in Olympic National Park will close to all entry at 7 a.m. Thursday.

The road, from the Mora ranger station to Rialto Beach, will be closed for about a week for repairs.

The road will be closed to all entry, including pedestrians, bicycles and motor vehicles.

Personnel from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will perform maintenance work on the Rialto Beach jetty and must repair the road in order to ensure safe equipment access to the jetty.

Working with park staff, Army Corps of Engineers personnel will complete the road repairs.

Olympic National Park crews had planned to make the road repairs this fall, but the work schedule was adjusted to accommodate access for the Corps of Engineers.

Mora Road in the park was damaged by storms and flooding last winter.
