A teen-age boy suffered serious head injuries in a bicycle crash on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The boy was riding on Camp David Junior Road near the Spruce Railroad trailhead in the Lake Crescent area when he tumbled end over end from the bicycle, Olympic National Park spokeswoman Barb Maynes said.
The boy — described as 16 or 17 years old — was part of a Boy Scout group from out of the area, Maynes said. His identity and hometown were not released pending notification of his parents.
His helmet was extensively damaged in the crash, she said. An ambulance took him to Olympic Memorial Hospital in Port Angeles, where a helicopter flew him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
