PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Medical Center Foundation will host a new event in August to benefit the hospital.
“Hog Wild — A Night of Games, Suds and Grub” at Barhop Brewing, 124 W. Railroad Ave., will feature a pig roast, Barhop micro-brews and about a dozen games, said Bruce Skinner, executive director of the foundation.
It’s the foundation’s first new event since the Sonny Sixkiller Golf Classic in July was added four years ago.
The foundation also organizes a heart-health-oriented luncheon, Red, Set, Go, in February; the Duck Derby in June; and the Festival of Trees in December, among other events, to raise money for Olympic Medical Center.
Hog Wild
Hog Wild, which is being organized now, will be aimed at a younger audience, Skinner said.
Pigs will be roasted outdoors. After dinner, games such as darts, pool and a cake walk will be offered — all providing prizes to winners. The evening will be capped with live music.
The cost of admission to the evening’s entertainment hasn’t been set, but it will probably be around $25, Skinner said.
“We’re really glad that we are doing a new event that’s affordable for anyone to attend,” he said.
The idea for the new event was broached by Sequim Health and Rehabilitation Administrator Ed Ebling, according to Skinner.
Sponsors
Sequim Health and Rehab and Crestwood Health and Rehabilitation, both of them Extendicare facilities, will be the presenting sponsor.
“Because of Extendicare, we will be able to give 100 percent of monies that are donated to us at our events to Olympic Medical Center,” Skinner said.
“Since we are both in the health care business, we are pleased to partner with the foundation and OMC,” Ebling said.
Said Crestwood Health and Rehab Administrator Michael Littman: “We appreciate the opportunity to make a difference.”
The two Extendicare facilities will continue to sponsor other foundation events. They are the presenting sponsor of Festival of Trees and are involved in Harvest of Hope and Red, Set, Go.
