PORT ANGELES — Olympic Medical Center has added a perfect state audit to its list of accomplishments, according to a report issued by the state Auditor’s Office last week.
“The District complied with state laws and regulations and its own policies and procedures,” said the audit report.
The audit was for the 2002 calendar year.
District officials were praised by auditors for their responsiveness to prior audit recommendations.
“Audit concerns are often discussed and addressed before completion of our audit,” the report said.
“We believe this reflects the District’s commitment to maintain a strong financial system with adequate internal controls.”
Eric Lewis, medical center chief financial officer, on Tuesday called the audit “good news.”
Lewis said the audit is the result of the efforts of the board of commissioners, senior administration and medical center employees.
“Doing things right is a major focus,” Lewis said. “These (perfect audits) don’t happen by accident.”
