Jim Haguewood, Clallam County Economic Development Council executive director, called Horizon Air’s loss “a disappointment, not a death blow.”
“It’s a step back in our economic initiatives,” Haguewood said Thursday shortly after hearing the news.
Haguewood said air commuter service “has always been a strong marketing tool for many companies that want to come to our community.
“We need to get it back.”
Looking at the fact that Horizon flew more than 22,000 passengers in 2002, Haguewood added:
“I’m confident another air service will come in.
“There’s still an existing market here, and I know a number of people, including myself, are going to work on trying to find another carrier to come into the community.”
