PORT ANGELES — It’s hurry-up-and-wait for news on the former Kmart shopping center east of Port Angeles — and the wait may not be a bad thing.
Ryan Dunne, the Kent developer who owns the high-visibility property on U.S. Highway 101 at Kolonels Way, says potential buyer Wal-Mart continues studying the feasibility of building on the site.
“I haven’t heard anything new,” Dunne said this week.
“The longer it goes, I guess the better chances are that it will happen.”
Eric Berger, Wal-Mart spokesman in Seattle, confirmed that Wal-Mart continues to be interested in the former Kmart property across Highway 101 from its existing store.
“There are no plans at this point to move forward with anything,” he said.
“We still currently are in an evaluation phase.”
Berger said he did not know when the Arkansas-based retailer would make a decision.
